As we approached the end of last year, I had no idea what my theme for 2015 ought to be. Which made me a bit unsettled, but I just kept praying and thinking. There were several great ideas, but I wanted to be open to the Lord's leading. When he did lead, I almost laughed out loud for the certainty of it. There were no audible voices, but I knew unmistakably what my theme for this year needed to be.
ha·ven (n) a place of refuge, rest or sanctuary
It's not a word I use much, but when it came to mind I knew that was it.
2015 is the year of Haven.
- I want to be intentional about making my home a haven for those who live there and those who we welcome into it.
- I want to be a haven to others in my relationships, especially my relationships with my hubby and my kiddos. I don't think I've done a bad job of this pre-2015, but I know there are some ways I can improve.
- I want to be purposeful about haven-ing myself. As a busy wife, mom, friend, it's easy to loose touch with who I am and what refreshes & renews my heart and spirit. I want to put myself in the list of priorities this year.
I'm eager to see where this takes me. . . and to sharing some of that here.
